Up for auction is my dear old sweet 1975 kawasaki 900 z1. I bought this kaw new in march of 1976. One owner bike, never been down or in any kind of accident. Well, in ’76 my neighbor leaned against it and pushed it over in the driveway. No damage except for my temper at the time, anyway, that was then. The sissy bar and pad were dealer installed on purchase of the bike, not sure if that is oem or their owner accessory line. It was 1976 so who really knows. As i got older (thankfully for that) my kaw found lots of time covered up and not ridden. In 2000 i decided to bring it back into duty. I replaced every rubber part on the bike, including swing arm and triple tree bushings and bearings, chain, sprockets, and fork seals. I gave it a new coil, condenser, points and plugs. Naturally, the carbs were rebuilt. This bike is totally stock (except for a crappy paint job decades ago when i was being stupid). During this 2000 refresh i noticed a slight powdering of rust inside the tank. Typical for kawasaki’s of the 70’s. My mistake here was i allowed a bike shop coat the inside of the tank to stop the rust and seal the tank. I had a glorious time riding for over a year until i noticed the tank coating starting to come off. Fearing clogged jets, i drained the tank and pulled and cleaned the carbs. Thinking i would soon correct that problem i had no idea that my job and being a parent would actually be the end of my z1 days. I never returned to fix the tank, that was 15 years ago. I own 3 other motorcycles and still do not have any time i can spare to put my girl back on the road. So, it is time to part with my z1. Btw – her name is karen, karen kawasaki. The photos are exactly as the bike sits right now. It hasn’t been started since 2002. The bike kicks over easily, rolls easily, switchgear feels fine, and the brakes work. I trust all is as it was when i turned he key off so long ago. The carbs are off the bike and in a box with 4 new rebuild kits (included). I am also including two new rear shocks that were never installed. Look closely at the photos as my girl will be sold as is.
